Therapeutic Coaching with Your Horse

What it is

Therapeutic Coaching with Your Horse is a human-centered approach to horsemanship. While training focuses on you and your horse’s skills, this work focuses on you—your nervous system, emotions, patterns, and presence in relationship with your horse.

It’s for horse owners who:

  • Already have a trainer and the practical skills, but still feel something is missing or standing in the way of the connection they want.

  • Feel blocked by nervous system habits, trauma, past training imprints, or other emotional baggage.

  • Find themselves always working on projects, training, or riding or the opposite and long to simply connect, or the opposite - avoid working with their horse due to some underlying, unclear blocks

  • Have moments of deep presence with their horse and want to experience that more often, as well as experience this translating into partnering through shared activities and work together

  • Have hired bodyworkers to work on their horse, but observe that holding patterns in both the human and horse’s bodies are co-creating dysfunction

  • Are noticing patterns from other parts of life showing up in the arena and are looking for support with the whole person development journey that is horse partnership

Why It Matters

Our horses feel us - our patterns, stress, and ways of being. The challenge often isn’t about what your horse needs to learn, but about what is carried into the relationship.

By shifting how you show up - as parent, leader, steward, and companion - you open the door to a relationship that’s more connected, easeful, and alive. This is often the missing ingredient in horsemanship. Our relationships with our horses also reflect patterns with oneself, others, and life, and this work is a developmental container exploring what is possible within and without across domains of our lives.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Engage in grounding and presence-based processes to deepen the field of relationship with yourself and your horse

  • Explore connection and what feels physically or emotionally blocked in your relationship, nervous system, and partnership

  • Engage in slow-paced relational ground work exercises - focused on how you are being versus pushing through to ‘get it right’

  • Deepening upon existing training practices with a focus on presence and the relationship

  • Practice new ways of showing up with your horse that allow for clarity, connection, and presence

  • For clients who will benefit, incorporate hands-on craniosacral work to address specific patterns that arise for horse/human

  • Mindful, emotionally-focused mounted work is also a part of sessions for clients whom will benefit

Sessions are available in person in the Boulder, CO area and virtually (virtual sessions require a stable internet connection).

The Benefits

  • Release emotional baggage and patterns that get in the way

  • Clear what lingers in the shared field between you and your horse

  • Work with real-time triggers, gently metabolizing them instead of acting them out

  • Experience a deeper, more authentic relationship that supports all you do together

  • Honor the psychospiritual dimension of your partnership

  • Gain insight into how your patterns with your horse reflect your patterns with yourself, others, and life

This isn’t about fixing your horse (or you). It’s about supporting you both so that you can meet together in clarity, presence, and trust. From there, training, riding, and simply being together become lighter, deeper, and more free.

My Background

In partnership with the horses, I help clients explore their thresholds around presence, attunement, and connection—with themselves and with others. Horses reflect us honestly, moment by moment, which makes them profound partners in healing, growth, and transformation.

Therapeutic coaching is a powerful developmental space to explore deep personal intentions and to gently uncover what gets in the way. In this work, clients are supported to metabolize areas of charge in the body—the patterns, tensions, and stuck places that limit freedom. As these begin to release, the system can return to its natural unfolding into health and greater capacity for connection.

My approach is shaped by more than a decade of study, practice, and professional experience at the intersection of coaching, somatics, horse training, and bodywork:

I bring over ten years of experience in equine coaching, guiding clients in partnership with horses to cultivate awareness, presence, and authentic connection. My background includes certifications in integral coaching, biodynamic craniosacral therapy, polarity therapy, and chaplaincy, grounding my practice in somatic awareness, energetic balance, and compassionate presence. I also have a herd of rescues, some with deep trauma patterns, and bring insights from my own journey bridging the sensitivity of horses with deep nervous system fixations.

Bringing these disciplines together allows me to create a depth-oriented, integrative container where the work with horses becomes a mirror for how we are showing up across the domains of our lives. In sessions, I attend to the subtle cues of the body, nervous system, and field dynamics while also supporting the human–horse partnership. Learn more.

The result is an approach that is both practical and profound: helping you cultivate greater presence, ease, and clarity with your horse, while also fostering the kind of inner transformation that touches every area of life.

Testimonials

Therapeutic coaching has helped me to understand my body, nervous system, and ways of relating to my horse (and therefore myself) like nothing else I have experienced. I recommend this work with Bridgit for anyone looking for a skilled facilitator in deepening with their horse.

The echoes of our time with the horses is still reverberating with me and your gentle yet clear and firm guidance was exceptional in helping me push my edges. I discovered insights about my leadership that would have taken months if not longer to realize in just moments interacting with those horses. Those dances provided immediate, powerful, nuanced and gentle biofeedback on how I show up in the world with others and how I hold and wield my power.
